Why Ike Davis isn’t on the Mets

Read this from MLB Trade rumors and it will explain to you why Omar will wait until April 20th to call Ike up. It actually makes long-term sense.

I just heard someone call WFAN and suggest Lee Mazzilli as manager.  Man, even I haven’t floated that one yet this year.  I don’t see Lee being the man to bring this team in to play .625 ball.  He seems more of a June 16, 1977 manager – once they say screw it and play Thole, Ike, F-Mart and Tejada and let Jose Reyes meet his destiny winning an MVP with Boston.

I also heard someone blasting the hit song by Santana out their car window.  Maybe it’s a sign today will be a good day.

I’m considering buying a black Mets jersey to throw Day Job Boss off the trail.

  1. Nah. I doubt that’s true given Mejia and Tejada, two players that it’s much more like we won’t know their ‘worth’ when this control period up. In all likelyhood, we’ll know if Davis will make it in 2, and either he won’t be here, or we’ll lock him up via Reyes/Wright to a longer term deal.

The reason they won’t bring up Davis is they don’t believe he’s ready. And while his “not ready” may be better than Jacobs/Tatis, they’d probably catch flak for demoting him when Murphy returns, even though they believe Murphy will have more of a contribution this year. (something i agree with)

Now, if you want to spin conspiracy theories about why Evans, Carter or Hessman aren’t up here? I’m all ears.
