Number 42, Ike Davis

I felt like I should have an Ike Davis post.

I’m excited.  I’m surprised that everyone else seems surprised that it was today, but whatever.  I wasn’t smart enough to figure it out, MLB Trade Rumors was.  By waiting they control him for an extra year.

Anyway, Ike will make his debut wearing….#42.   It’s Jackie Robinson night.  Then on to #29.  (Good catch by BPalm on that one, I have no original thoughts today.)

…and I got my chops busted on twitter because Lackey got lit.  I think I’ll just go buy a black jersey and call it a day.

  1. Call-up Ike, pitcher Niese, and sub Cora currently have half of the Mets 6 hits through 5 innings in a 1-0 game (with the RBI coming on an infield single), Wright just K’d with the bases loaded, and the team has now gone 111 at-bats without an extra base hit.

Obviously, they need to fire the manager and the pitching coach in order to turn this thing around.

      1. Hit ball with stick, win game.

Don’t hit ball with stick, complain about reliever giving up the winning score and manager not being able to manufacture runs.

        1. @sparks how about “watch two pitches go by and see if they are strikes.” Just get into ANYONES bullpen and you’ll win, especially if their bullpen is an outfielder.

          1. If the first pitch WAS a strike, you probably want to be a little more careful about watching the second one.
