Well Max, I hate to let you down but I don’t hate it. Â My biggest problem with the “hybrid” (for you newbies that’s the cap usually worn on the road – or is it always now) is that the NY doesn’t pop. Â Although this NY is black, I find it easier to see.
If I get some free time this weekend maybe I’ll dust off some of the truly horrible caps.
What does everyone else think of this cap?
I even kinda like this one myself. Hate the silly white-blue trade-in cap from this weekend though.

I actually like this cap. I believe that it is based upon the BP caps the Mets had around 2005. I find it interesting in that it appears to be a mirror of the “hybrid” cap in that you have a black bill, blue crown and black-on-white-on-orange NY Logo as opposed to a blue bill, black crown and blue-on-orange logo.
At the time, I thought it quite clever and still think that these caps in conjunction with the 2005 BP jerseys are the best BP/Spring Training unis the Mets have ever had.. I have one of these caps, and would actually prefer that these were used by the Mets as their BP cap instead of the ones they’ve had over the past few years.

I personally just don’t like the style, and I feel like it lacks continuity. I just find the black bill ugly and I hate the fact that the “NY” logo is mainly black. I feel like that should always be either orange or blue. If there had to be black, maybe a Black cap with the orange “NY” and a blue bill.
Also, I’m a big fan of the green under-bill.

Tolerable with a blue jersey. Otherwise, not so much.
Again. Not Necessary. This is just a continuation of another “roll the dice” move by the Mets fashion/marketing dept. If there has to be Black, then just stick with the All-Black fitted. No hybrid Black crown/Blue Bill or vice versa. The hybrid in either version is just awefully useless. Even on the road it looks horrible. The all blue fitted looks PERFECT on the road uni even though it has been rarely worn that way. The All Black Fitted looks PERFECT on the Black Uni. Say NO to Hybrid Fitteds they serve no logical purpose.
