David Cone: Mets or Yankees?

Sorry this event has passed but that’s not the point.   This was actually sent to me by a Yankees fan.

YANKEES LEGEND?

Record with Mets: 81-51 (.614) including that 1-3 in the weird 2003 aborted comeback.

Record with Yankees: 64-40 (.615)

I guess 4 rings make you a Yankees legend.  Not too many players have 4 I guess, and Cone has 5 (slipped in a Toronto ring).  Sigh.

If it makes you feel better Ramiro Mendoza has five.  I’m not sure he’ll make the Hall.  Here’s a list.

While I’m giving AT&T a free commercial, how about installing some 3G at airports fellas.

  1. Four rings and a perfect game trump 17 extra victories and a 19-strikeout performance, but I’ll always consider Cone a Met.

  2. As much as I hate to admit it. Once the Mets traded him to the Jays and then he ended up on the Skanks and got that No Hitter we lost him forever. In my eyes he was just another Hall of Fame bound Met that the Mets allowed themselves to lose…a’ la Seaver, Ryan, Kazmir etc etc
