The Revised 1977 New York Mets Yearbook

Thanks to Will for pointing this one out….Yesterday I was suspicious about the Koosman cover in a year they wound up trading Seaver.  Will let me know there was a revised yearbook…with a different cover!  I don’t know of any other instances of that happening…does anyone?

What’s the conspiracy here?  Get Koosman off the cover in case we trade him too!   People will love Joe Torre in 25 years, let’s get in front of it!

Joe looks like someone just walked in his office and proposed trading Seaver and Kingman.   “No, really, what did you come in here to tell me?”

Joe’s gonna look like crap in a black Mets jersey come April.

Note the price is $1 and they traded Seaver.   This will be relevant tomorrow.

  1. I’m sure there were other years with “revised editions,” because I bought them when I was a kid. Although it was way before my time, I bought two different 1963 yearbooks on a late ’70s trip to Cooperstown – one was called “Revised” and the other was called “Final Revised.”

As far as I can remember, the 1977 revised edition was the only one with a different cover. Perhaps another Mazzilli-era fan can shed some light on this.

    1. An email says 1990 switched from a Davey cover to a Buddy. Unconfirmed.

As a Mazz era fan I don’t recall any cover switch outs. I have both 1982s. Same cover.
