Kiner’s Korner Revisited coming to SNY

Neil Best says that Kiner’s Korner is coming to SNY.  Newsday has that pesjy paywall, but Remembering Shea seems to have what appears to be the full story.

SNY’s programming schedule does not list it.

Kids, Kiner’s Korner was terrible.  Ralph is just not good.  However, it’s ours and it’s going to be an amazing thing to stare at in disbelief.

I still wish they’d make new Mets Yearbooks voiced by Howie – one of my goals for this weekend is to make “Mets yearbook 2007” if I get some free time.

      1. Non-union operation, with exception of technicians at I’m Still Calling It Shea. Less people in broadcast truck [no associate director] so replays are sometimes lost. Google Comcast’s history with broadcast unions and you’ll see why.

  1. Generation gap here? PLEASE don’t dis good ol’ Ralph! Last living original Mets
broadcaster…one of the greatest HR hitters of all time (without roids!)…
HOF player AND broadcaster! Used to date
young Liz Taylor and Kim Novak (google them)…man is a priceless source of
baseball stories from the 40s til today!
    I watched Kiners Korner from ’62 on…
    Ralphie probably interviewed every major
NL player ever! He speaks slower today,
but the mind is quick as ever! We love
his malaprops (like calling Carter “Gary
Cooper”)…As an interviewer, he’s not Bob Costas or Vin Scully, nor should he be! Be grateful he’s still here!

  2. Possibly 20 years ago, I went to a home
    opener at Shea…Kiner was introducing
the team, slightly slurring his words.
My buddy elbowed me in the ribs and said,
Ralph sounds drunk…only a few days later
did we read that Ralph had been stricken
with Bell’s Palsey, which paralyzes part
of your face and affects your speech…
(Wrestling fans may remember Jim “JR” Ross
also had it)…There were times in the late 70s/early 80s when Ralph REALLY drank on the air…so would you if you had to work with Lorn Brown and Steve
Albert and watch such bad ball! I’m surprised Gary, Keith, Ron and Howie haven’t\started drinking heavily!
I love the Mets Police, but PLEASE do
    not dis Mister Kiner!

  3. Didn’t they have a highlight video of the 1999 season. I could be mistaken though.I do know they had a full video for the 1990 season. You guys remember 1990? Poor Buddy.I always loved when Ralphie dissed a player while watching him look bad on a strikeout. He did that to Joe Torre in 1977.Priceless!We always knew who won the game by seeing who was on Kiner’s Korner.Ralphie is a treasure.
