Hi,
Too bad. The way he’d been hitting lately we could have gotten something for him during the winter meetings. Now we’re stuck with him.
Phil
Irrelevant.
A. we shouldn’t do anything with him put play him next year on the road to the World Series.
B. He’s not injured. it’s not ‘severe’. It’s inflammation. he had an MRI. He’s fine, just needs to have his knee calm down and it’s 4 games left and no point in it.
Just prior to the inflammation episode, Beltran found his stroke and over the last couple of weeks was hitting close to .400 with 3 HRs. His season batting average which seemingly couldn’t move from the low .220s jumped to the high .250s in this span. I think given the fact that he came back from a knee injury mid-season, it was a bit difficult to come up to speed quickly. With a full winter of training and a full spring, Beltran will be good to go in the spring. And being that it is his contract year, we might even see glimpses of why we paid all that money for him in 2005. No doubt he will be playing his heart out next year.
