Video: How I Met The Mets April 19, 1984 (now with video)

Wow I Castillo’d this post.  I did the long pre-amble below but forgot to actually include the video.  D’oh.

Original spiel below.

Here’s the teaser for episode 2 of How I Met The Mets.

How I Met the Mets is the story of a middle aged man who bores his children with stories about the Mets.  In this episode it’s April 19, 1984 and Dwight Gooden is making his Shea debut.   In real life I was there with Osh41.  As you’ll see in the video, I have the calendar to prove it.

I’d love to see SNY make this a series (think Rain Delay Filler) with Howie Rose doing the voiceover, and using real editors and actual archival footage of the Mets to flesh it out.

Next week we take a look at Game 6 1986, and as I make these and get the hang if it they are coming along.  This one is similar to last week’s..but 86 takes another step forward.

In case you missed it..here’s episode 1.

I should just pass this off as Randy’s series. Then you guys would make it viral.

If anyone has random “dated” photos of you attending a game or exteriors of Shea or anything like that shoot ’em over. I can work them in.

Starting next week these start to grow a little longer.  Episode 3 “1986” is still only a teaser but I go a little longer.

Episode 4 is the final game at Shea and starting with that one the minisodes come back after the credits and tell more of a story.  That one is half done.

Episode 5 is wrapped and is about 2000 and Mike Piazza.

Each one takes me like two hours to do, plus or minus how annoyingly loud my kids are.  They were pretty annoying during yesterday’s production of 2000 which is why I didn’t finish the Shea one.

Ideally someone at SNY will like these and take the concept (or something like it) and make proper episodes using assets and access to the actual players (and access to actual video machines.)  I can only do so much using an iphone and Windows movie maker.

I hope you’ll enjoy them and pass them around, re-tweet, share, like etc.

This one is similar to last week but as I mentioned above, they get better as I get the hang of it and figure out new ways to fake footage I don’t have.

Any other suggestions?
