This video made me wonder one thing: Why did the Mets ever let Jack Franchetti go?
didnt Jack just retire? Thats still him on Take Me Out To The Ballgame, isnt it?
You know, for years I wondered if that was Jack on “Take Me Out to the Ballgame.” It must be. I never really heard what happened to Franchetti. I once did a Google search to try to find out, but could only learn that he was still an active voice-over talent. Since he left, I’ve only enjoyed one Mets PA Announcer. I could never find his name — but he was in the spot for half of 1999 through 2003. I want to say his first name was Roger. And if my ears aren’t playing tricks with me, I think he’s doing Islanders PA now. Perhaps it’s because he sounds like an old-time announcer, but I have never been able to warm up to Alex Anthony over the years.
