@dtwohig’s Mets Library #41: Casey At The Bat

MetsPolice Library Casey At The BatSo many people think of Casey Stengel as the bumbling old manager of the inept expansion Mets.  The truth is Casey was one of the great all-time managers and had a Hall of Fame career before he donned the blue and orange.

Suitably his autobiography Casey at the Bat: The Story of My Life in Baseball, was published in 1962 and so while he was the Mets manager, the book deals with his career prior to the “Metsies”.

I wish I could link to it, but it seems to be out of print.
