It is June 15th and my Mets soul is not burning

seaver reds

June 15th, 1977.

Today is June 15th and somehow my soul is at peace today. Has finally enough time gone by? Is it that so many other horrible things have happened that the scars have scars and I just can’t feel pain any more?

The date is etched in my mind, but it doesn’t hurt today. I guess if you live long enough…

  1. I was one of the few people who was excited about the Seaver trade.  I was looking forward to Steve Henderson patrolling LF and I thought Dan Norman would turn out to be something special.  Little did I know that this was the beginning of the “time of troubles” that followed.  When people  complain about how cheap the Wilpons are, they don’t remember what it was like when Mrs. DeRoulette (sp) ran the team in the late 1970’s.
