Mets Police Morning Laziness: you won’t have baseball until at least August here’s why….

SLACKISH REACTION:  While the other sites have a circle of content where one person writes about Pete Alonso and the there 7 sites regurgitate it (75 writers and all you can do is copy and paste?) let me give it to you straight.

YOU WILL NOT HAVE BASEBALL UNTIL AT LEAST AUGUST.

I know you weren’t ready for that but let me walk you through it, and I am being serious here.

Every day I watch the POTUS address the nation and I pay close close attention.   What happens are there are words in his brain that slip out.  They aren’t misspeaks, they aren’t rants, it’s that he has information in his brain and it makes it to his mouth.

When this all started and people were talking about two weeks (which would now be over, so back to work everyone!), in one of the pressers he was talking about two but then the brain-slip said “six eight” – I forget the exact quote but something like “some people are saying six, eight weeks but I think two.”

At that time I told my family to bunker down for 8 weeks.

Yesterday, the President was on for about an hour and half and I was comparing it to a Matt Harvey 2019 start.  He was solid-enough for about four innings, but you could see the meltdown coming and then it came.  Once he starts talking to reporters he loses it.

Anyway, you may have noticed that the President is no longer talking about the Easter Miracle Of Opening For Business and that he told everyone to stay in until the end of April.

This is TRUMP admitting to the end of April.  The same guy that said the count would be down to zero, and the same guy that was floating Easter.  THAT GUY is admitting to the end of April.

As part of the April declaration I heard him use the word JUNE.   Not May 1, he said June.  That tells me that someone has put June into his head, and deep down he has accepted June.  Note that April is followed by May on most calendars, not June.

“During this period, it’s very important that everyone strongly follow the guidelines. Have to follow the guidelines,” Mr. Trump told reporters, with members of the government’s coronavirus task force nearby. “Therefore, we will be extending our guidelines to April 30 to slow the spread.”

“We can expect that by June 1, we will be well on our way to recovery,” Mr. Trump said. “We think by June 1. A lot of great things will be happening.” (via WashPo)

It also makes me believe that if he has accepted June then that means someone is probably saying a wold like August to him.

So you are not getting baseball any time soon.

I had previously written about a 40 game MLB season starting on August 15th.  You guys at MLB might want to read it.

….

I’m always one to study behavioral changes as they apply to consumer behavior and especially media consumption.

I find it interesting and understandable that March 2020 will be the second lowest read month of the blog in a decade.   That’s a combination of coronavirus, me not posting as much, there nothing to write about, people not commuting, people not watching Mets games, and of course my blog being over-all terrible.   I get it.  I am not worried about it.

But if my blog, which is hobby that occasionally makes me some jersey money, is hit that hard, I wonder what’s happening across the internet.  We are seeing print weeklies go under.  I’m sure sites like the Washington Post and the New York Times are doing well….but what about things like The Content Farm, or SNY (who are trying so so so hard and not being good at it) or some random site where we all normally killed time at work/commuting skimming.  I imagine their stats are down too, and there will be some economics behind it.

And we are nowhere near returning to normal.  Let’s keep this to baseball sites.  My site isn’t about recapping games, so I can coast along and if I get motivated I can spin up some thought experiments or Joel Youngblood memories or whatever.   What is SNY going to do for six months?  Write about who might be the Jets third receiver?

Meanwhile on Twitter, I see I lost like 70 people on twitter, and I am sure that’s because I have been pretty political.   I know “the book” says not to talk about politics, but I don’t care.  I’ll burn this whole blog down if it will help sanity prevail..  There is no reason to have a platform if you don’t use it – and if I see something stupid (like when Cuomo had a bad first inning and told us to take the empty subway car) I am going to comment.

Today’s comment is the President’s brain leaked to his mouth that he’s already accepted June.  Which means you need to accept August.  If we’re all even that lucky.
