Baseball Hall of Immortals – Inductee #72: Nolan Ryan

The all-time strikeout king is the 72^nd inductee into the Baseball Hall of Immortals.

Nolan Ryan pitched in the major leagues for 27 years – tied for longest in MLB history.  When he retired at the age of 46, his fastball still topped 90 mph.

Along the way he dominated hitters in both leagues like nobody else.  In his career, he won 324 games (14^th all-time), threw 5,386 innings (5^th), struckout 5,714 batters (1^st), had 61 shutouts (7^th), 12 one-hitters (tied for 1^st), and of course 7 no-hitters (1^st).

He also had 18 two-hitters.  So in 37 games he gave up 2 hits or fewer.  That’s dominance.

This one is easy, Nolan Ryan is definitely an Immortal.
