Matt from MetsBlog and I actually talked about this one the other day – I know it almost makes no sense to link to that much bigger site – but they teach you in blogger school not to assume everyone reads everything…
Anyway, here’s what Citi would look like with a blue fence and the skyline on the scoreboard. Â Everyone not named Howard or Wilpon will know this is a great look.
Shannon, I agree with you about the drop shadow, the jerseys, and the hats especially (I think even the black jerseys are made better when coupled with the only real Mets cap) but honestly I like the walls black. Maybe a darker blue (’69 Mets blue?) would look good, but the bright colored walls in these mock-ups are not what I’m looking for, unless D Wright HRs are flying over them that is.
I agree with FFrost…I just dont think it looks good in the stadium. It was ok in Shea because there really wasn’t anything behind the wall. The blue really does go with the rest of the stadium
I love the idea of the skyline on top of the screen. It looks great and would be really cool if they could do it BUT i think logistically it would probably be pretty tough. The skyline is an actual 3 dimensional structure not just some flat piece of material that could be stuck to the board above the screen. Maybe there is a way they could get it done or maybe they could come up with an alternative
That looks pretty cool, but I actually like the skyline in Danny Meyerland. I gaze at it each time I’m on line at Shake Shack. I love being able to see it up close.
That color blue is a good start, but it should be a much darker blue like the blue that is on all the seating charts, ads and some beams……..this blue makes stadium look like stadium in Toronto.
Black is awful awful awful………looks dirty too with all warning track dust that blows on it on windy days.
The wall does not have to be Mets blue. Yanks are VERY dark blue as team color but walls are lighter blue. Dodgers have like a baby blue color. For citi without it looking tacky a darker blue with orange HR line would be great and then its “home”
I’m sorry, but I have to go with FFrost and BPALM on this. A blue wall just would not look good at Citi.
There is no reason to try and recreate Shea at Citi Field.
Yea. I agree. That blue wall outright sucks. The skyline is cool though. Better than just a Let’s go Mets. That, just like most other thing the mets do is tacky

A blue wall will not make Citi Field “home”, it is home.
The skyline does look good atop the scoreboard. But, I also think it’s present location is good too. Where it is now allows fans to see somewhat up-close, allows for fan pictures with it close in the background, and such.
Formerdirtdart, yes green wall be fine like in your attached pic, but look at that pic again………foul poles look white. With the orange foul poles that they have, dark blue should be the color of walls.
And seeing the Giants in town this weekend its even more silly Mets have the black. Sorry but black walls is awful. But I agree Mets blue would not look that great in that stadium. Just look at most of the signs at CitiField. Dark dusty blue (like the beams) and orange. That is the way to go.
Matt – can you do the pic with a darker blue?
