How do game worn jerseys wind up on eBay?

I regularly see things like the below, and I’m not accusing anyone of anything, but assuming this is a real item, how do such things get to eBay?  Do baseball teams sell used stuff to collectors?

2011 Chris Young #55  New York Mets home alt white game used jersey size 54 with the 0063 wash code with +1″ sleeve and +2″ body.     I don’t know if the jersey was washed after the last wearing by Young.  The jersey has some marks as pictured on the front side of the jersey.  Hologram info is listed below.   Shipping is $8 not including insurance.  Paypal, personal check,  or a cashiers check is accepted as a payment.  (checks are held until it clears.)

Hologram number FJ491040 was located in the MLB Authentication Database under GAME-USED JERSEY.

I know they sell game worn stuff at the park, so I guess people could buy them there and resell them.

Anyone know?

Watch the Mets (in color) on Channel 9

I’ve been cleaning out some old papers from my parents basement and have uncovered a number of Mets related items, including this TV and Radio Highlights listing from the Thursday, September 16, 1965 edition of the New York Journal-American.

You can watch the Mets play the Reds at 1:55pm on Channel 9 – or if you prefer you can listen to the game on WHN.

After the game you can watch this new British group the Rolling Stones on Shindig.  I don’t know about you but I think they may just be a one-hit wonder.

Seaver ecstatic over Nolan Ryan’s success

“It makes me ecstatic with happiness for Nolan,” Seaver said before Tuesday’s SMU Athletic Forum Luncheon in Dallas. “I’m not surprised at all. Once he turned the corner and his real inner core work ethic started, I’m not surprised a bit, not one iota. I think he was intimidated with a couple of things real early in New York, one of them being New York. Once the organization, the Angels, they gave him the ball [that was where it all began].”

Mets TV viewership drops – Mets Blog – ESPN New York

I saw this at lunch-time yesterday, and normally I’d be all over this, but there were so many posts scheduled I thought I’d save it for now.

in raw numbers, the Mets lost the third-largest TV viewership in 2011 compared to the previous season, according to the study.

In all, 39,000 fewer homes per game watched the Mets this past season.

Negativity aside, let’s remember that the Mets are the 4th most watched behind the NYYs, Boston and Philly.  Details here.

Study: Citi Field earned most value in news media exposure

Good morning!

Whew that was a busy busy day on the blog yesterday, leaving lots of spillage for today.  Let’s start with this one:

The New York Mets, fourth-place finishers in the National League East, won at least one title—for its corporate stadium sponsor, Citigroup Inc.

The team’s home park, Citi Field, earned the most value in news media exposure among all corporate-named ballparks this year, reaping nearly double the amount of the next-placed stadium, according to a study released Tuesday by Joyce Julius & Associates Inc
