More about Gooden’s non-disappearance

Brooklyn Mets Fan has more about Gooden’s whereabouts and some of the circumstances that may have led to the Post story.    It’s the best read of the day so far.   Blue Cap Tip to Paul’s Random Stuff on linking to that one first.

Speaking of Paul, he weighs in on the disgrace about Monday not being sold out.

The same Mets fans who will complain that the Mets are cheap and don’t honor history are the same “fans” who will sit home Sunday.   Buy a ticket, park in Corona, bring a sandwich and a bottle of water.

Possible Gooden sighting (unconfirmed)

Once again I will remind you Mets Police is not news, it’s a fat guy on a deck (actually in a basement this morning) – I received the following email:

I didn’t get a chance to listen to the podcast so maybe you covered this but I was at the Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremonies today and I have found Doc Gooden.  He was signing autographs on Main Street in Cooperstown from 10:30 – 12:00 this morning.  Ironically just down the street Bill Buckner was a couple of doors down.  I was going to take my $30 autographed Doc Gooden baseball and roll it between Buckner’s legs but a good conscience got the better of me.  Darryl was around too.  Doc was in very good spirits, he also shook my hand.

Matt

Gooden was scheduled to be at such a show.    I’ll see if I can find confirmation on Matt’s story.

ESPN: 45% of Citi Field vendors cited for violations

ESPN did a big report about stadium food safety. The Mets actually fared comparatively well – and I bet if you investigated your local pizza joint or fast food place you would be stressed….here’s the part relative to the Mets:

Citi Field fared slightly better than the ballpark in the Bronx. Forty-five percent of vendors at the Mets‘ home park were cited with violations. Inspectors found 20 pounds of grilled chicken registered at 70 degrees in a refrigerator at the ballpark, which is about 30 degrees warmer than allowed, according to an excerpt of inspection reports.

The Yankees of course had to go and out-do the Mets.  Forty-eight percent of their vendors had violations according to the report.

The rest of the story is here.
