My Take Aways From Yesterday’s Mets Game

This sign needs to be shown more then one time an hour before game time.

This is my third time trying to write this post. If this app crashes one more time I’m going kick @lagranderusty.

I couldn’t get to the game yesterday because it was the first day of filming for Royal Pains, so I gave Shannon my tickets. These tickets were from my tweet game plan and were “my seats”. Shannon kept emailing me about how I’m going to love my seat mates and the way they keep getting up and down all game during at-bats. Now I’m hoping they were just fans that had tickets for the game and aren’t there all the time because I will get grouchy. Baseball etiquette isn’t taught anymore. Wait until the at bat is completed. Your beer/food run can wait. You are being rude to other fans who are trying to watch the game. Been to other ball parks there are signs that say don’t return to seats until at bat is over. Ushers even stop you during at bats!!
Just stop!

To the fan that threw the beer in the direction of Sizemore. Why is it necessary to act like a Phillies fan? They have a horrible reputation in Philly for being a-holes. We don’t need that rep. Grow up.
Just Stop!

The roll call thing. It was funny when I heard it happened at the Bronx invasion games and Yankees visiting Citi Field because it’s tweeking Yankees fans. It doesn’t need to be done when the Yankees aren’t playing the Mets. When it happened in Miami T-shirt guy and I shook our heads. The 7line army has a lot of chants and songs that they do which are funny and gets the players to acknowledge the fans. Even the “struck him out” chant that came down from the 500s works well. Granderson even jumped in and did it in spring training.
Just Stop(except when playing the Yankees)!

Support the Mets on the road using Hipmunk.com, booking flights to and from Philadelphia and hotels in Philadelphia starting from $88. Wins against teams in the bottom of the division early in the season will help the Mets chances for a playoff spot later on in the season.

Spider-Man Comics Loves the Mets.

I am a huge comic book fan and I love how Spidey is a Mets fan and Marvel doesn’t mind showing it. From time to time, I might just throw a pic of a page from a comic book now and then…Like now..

This is a weird talking baseball mascot that is supposed to be Mr. Met…

Security Theater

I know Shannon and I have been talking about the metal detectors coming to all MLB ballparks this season. We have brought up about how does the metal detectors actually help? You already had wands in place and why did it take fourteen years for this to be put into effect in the ballparks?
Now we have beaten this to death with our thoughts about them. But let’s start talking about one problem that has seemed to be getting out of hand. Fans that can’t hold their beer, get beer muscles, and start trouble because there are fans from the opposing team that the team that they root for are playing.

Good natured ribbing is one thing but when it gets heated and out of control where is the security for that?
A few Mets fans that I know that we’re down in DC yesterday (they went on their own and weren’t hanging with out group) got harassed all game. Security was nowhere to be seen.

I was told the Nats fans that were starting the trouble were enjoying more libations then they should have and we’re getting out of control the longer the game went on. Now the Mets fans that were involved with this I know can put back a few beers but when I ran into them after the game, I could tell that they didn’t go overboard with the drinks. If they had, I’d be tsk tsk tsking them too.

Okay, so back to what happened. The Nats fans wouldn’t let the Mets fans leave and walk up the stairs and got into their faces.

No security around them when this happened. There was a scuffle after the Nats fans made the first move and finally security and the cops showed up after all this happened. Lucky for the Mets fans there were some Nats fans and workers there that told the cops what happened and they were able to go home without anyone getting arrested or seriously hurt.

I’m real glad those metal detectors were there to stop a skirmish like this.

Right now The Mets are up 2-1 with Murphy up at bat. Some of the Nats fans are trying some good natured ribbing. Failing at it though.

And that’s the game 3-1. Overall a fun day, only one dumb Nats fan, everyone else were coo.
