If there must by hybrid Mets caps: how about this one?

I took yesterday off from black-uni-talk, but it remains something that draws bug interest.

Let’s recap:  seems to be a desire by MetsCo to sell black merch.   Personally, I think the NY doesn’t pop on tv on a hybrid cap.

Sparks suggests this New Era cap might be a solution.

As well discussed, I don’t like hybrids, but since I try to explore solutions I’d like to see what this looks like on television.

Tom Seaver for Sears

I really should save this for Silly Saturday, or at least another day where I don’t have six articles already loaded (and nothing for next week) – but this is so awesome and I’d hate for some other Mets blogger to check their Tom Seaver Google Alert and beat me to the punch.   Found this here.

I’d wear it.   Look at Tom flashing the wedding ring.

Speaking of Seaver, I met Tommy from TheKnicksBlog yesterday and he told me an awesome Seaver story.  I have to convince him to write it up.   Very cool, but not my story to tell.

I do have one to tell and I think I will use it for Father’s Day since it combines the two times I met Seaver, 35 years apart.

Anyone else got Seaver stories?  I know Osh41 does…

Fan-designed Mets blue road jersey

Here’s a note from Brian who has the same real job problem I have.  Can’t we all just sit around and talk about what the Mets should wear and somehow get people to pay us?  Surely that’s a marketable skill.   As you read, when Brian says “yesterday” that’s now two days ago in your world because in your “yesterday” I had real job problems.  Enough with the time paradoxes…here’s Brian.

Shannon,

Wanted to get this to you yesterday, but the REAL job got in the way…LAME!

Here’s a mock up I thought you might enjoy. This picture of Mike Piazza always makes me go, “Damn! That’s a nice looking jersey!” I’m assuming it was their road BP jersey in 1998. I think now is the perfect time to introduce a blue AWAY jersey. Since the black road one has been eliminated (and the Mets script on the road looks terrible), I thought this would be a perfect solution. We get a blue alternate, the Mets brass gets to keep their black alternate for home games and this would give the Mets a nice bump in merchandising sales. For the record, I would have the players’ names on the back, but I really need to get stuff done today and re-coloring the word “PLAYER” is not on the agenda. I also included a new alternate hat. Same crown as the blues just with an orange brim. I think THAT’S a sharp hybrid cap! Let me know what you think!

Hmmm….as you will see me mention in several posts today, I’m actually writing on Wednesday night and quite sleepy.  My brain doesn’t have the capacity to ponder this properly.   I love blue jerseys…I will revisit this one when I am awake.  In the meantime, you guys discuss.   More DIY stuff coming as the day progresses (and yes UniWatch owns this and this is copycat, more on that later – I think – I can’t even remember what order I have things scheduled.)

Impossible Poll result: black Mets jerseys slightly more popular than a rain delay

I enjoyed last week’s Impossible Poll, which is designed to force you to make a hard choice.   I also tend not to ask a question.

The options were:  Black Mets jersey, Plexiglass, Jimmy Rollins or Rain Delay.

Not surprisingly, black Mets jerseys won with 44% of the vote, thus proving Mets fans love black jerseys.  As defending champion, I have started a new poll to see if black Mets jerseys can continue to win against steep competition.

Rain Delays were second with 37%, but interestingly Jimmy Rollins (11%) beat out Plexiglass (9%), so either some Phillies fans voted or David Howard needs to sit in the Promenade with me.  (Come on Dave, it will be fun.)

If you’re reading this via email or Google Reader you’ll find the poll on the main metspolice site and if you’d like to be one of those email/reader folks click here.
