Idea: Mets Police 70’s week

Right after Michael Baron from MetsPhotos.com hooked me up with the current header image, Randy from The Apple sent me over this equally awesome header image.

So here’s my pitch.   During the All-Star break things get boring.  Let’s celebrate Mets Police 70’s week!

Here’s what I need.

GUEST POSTS.

You guys with the OTHER BLOGS.  Donate some stuff.  Faith and Fear, Centerfield Maz and Optimistic Mets Fan have all hooked me up.

Mets Walkoffs I know you retired but i bet you have some minutia about Joel Youngblood on your old site.

Randy I’m sure you’ll come up with something good.

Kranepool, you must have something about Kranepool?

Old photos, baseball cards (Paul’s Random stuff, hello?)

I’m not looking for you to write new stuff, just lend me your best old fun 70’s stuff.

SEVENTIES WEEK ON METS POLICE.  STARTS MONDAY.  WHO’S IN?

submissions to: shannon@metspolice.com

That cop looks awesomely handsome and somehow familiar.  I may have to start rotating the images.

Brooklyn Cyclones Jersey Thursday: Backman tonight

The Cyclones are giving away Backman jerseys tonight.

While we’re in Cyclones mode, Anthony sent this in.

Check out the attached photo of the jerseys the Cyclones wore on June 28th – I’m thinking these should be adopted as their new home jerseys.

I don’t even know what their jersey looks like these days.  I’ve never made it out to Coney Island and deep down I kind of want to be a zillionaire (after I event the holodeck) and move the Cyclones to Los Angeles just to watch people freak out.  I have some weird fantasies.

Hey Dan Twohig – you’re the Cyclones Guy.  Whip up a Cyclones Uniform History when you get a shot.

Is that Backman design what they wear?   I don’t need the city name on the front.  I know where you play.

Enjoy the Mets before two weeks of late starts

I think we’re all enjoying this season of Ike and Niese and DW and Reyes and the Great Santana Debates and being Proud of Pelfrey.

I bring you bad news.

Next week: no Mets games on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Thursday and Friday 10pm starts. 9pm on Saturday. 4pm on Sunday.

Thats an entire week of crappy start times.

It gets worse.

Three 9:40’s, two 10:10’s and two 4:10’s on the weekend.

To really make it annoying, an off day on the 26th.

I go to bed early, and I have a life on the weekend. It may be July 27th before I can enjoy a game after this weekend.

It’s hot. I’m heading home to savor a Mets game and enjoy future Hall of Famer Jon Niese off one of his 287 career wins. LGM!

Wednesday, July 7
vs. Cincinnati

Angel Pagan – CF
David Wright – 3B
Ike Davis – 1B

Jesus Feliciano – RF
Alex Cora – 2B

Citi Field’s All Star Food

The excellent site Biz of Baseball summarized the cool foods that will be served at the All Star Game next week.

“Signature Menu Items by chefs from 12 Major League Cities” are featured.

I kinda couldn’t think of anything signature about the Mets.   A Shake Shack?

I checked the list expecting to see Crabs or some made up Rockies Something but no Mets.

Well, the Mets made it.  Any guesses?

It’s the Citi Field Twisted Sausage and Pepper Sandwich

Yep, that makes sense.  I mean, who has not gone to a Mets game and thought “I better get a twisted Sausage and Pepper Sandwich to go with my Rheingold.”   The Twisted Sausage and Pepper Sandwich is THE quintessential New York Mets snack.  All-Star indeed.

Biz of Baseball

Oh, I was MUCH happier last week sitting on my deck and blogging.  Buy some tickets off the stubhub ads or get Dunkin Donuts to buy an ad.  Imagine the alternate caps and Mets randomness I could bore you with if I weren’t stuck arguing with the lawyers all day.
