Terry Collins video*, gift stuff, Mets Yearbook marathon

The Mets sent out a video of Terry Collins last night…highlights, answering a few questions…but I’m really bored with MLB.com, Mets.com, MLB Advanced media or whoever has decided the world would end if a video could be easily embedded.  Hunt around the intertubes if you really want to see it…(hint Matt Cerrone has better technology than I.)

What sense does it make to email it to folks but not let it embed it?   I bet I could send a few hundred people to see the commercial they make you sit through….

Anyway, someone who understands social media in the 21st century is Kerel Cooper who does a video post in my kind of style as he looks at the holiday gift ideas

Here’s non-Mets related video of Rangers coach John Totorella’s post-game remarks from Monday. See how the NHL didn’t fold after I embedded this?  God forbid MLB allow sites to post Terry Collins’ post-game comments.

The Daily News wastes everyone’s time even speculating that Jeter will play 2B for the Mets.   Better chance I do.

Mets Today takes a better spin on the same story if for no other reason than this sentence:  Would you welcome Derek Jeter with open arms? Heck, he couldn’t be any worse than Tom Glavine.

Mets jacket at Great Adventure 1976-ish

Good morning Mets fans,

I think the Joker said it best when he asked “Why So Serious?”

I’m in the mood for a light post to start things off today.   Junior was flipping through the family archives last night and found this one from 1976 or so (could be 77 or even 78).  Great Adventure.  I remember 195 wasn’t even finished yet.

This is my cousin wearing a pretty cool Mets jacket.  He is still a big Mets fan to this day.

Q for readers about Francesa comment

Hey gang.  Just got an email that said…

….just heard Mike Francesa make a reference to the Major League Baseball Players Association putting up some resistance to some of the Amazin Mets Perks the Mets are offering as part of an incentive to buy season tickets….

I didn’t hear it.  I don’t know that Mike actually said it.  I don’t know that the resistance exists.    I don’t know what Mike may have meant.

Does anyone know what this might be about (if anything)?  Did I miss a story?

My first impression of Terry Collins

Terry’s appearance at the press conference was short.  He speaks quickly.  He seems focused.

Media Goon picked up on this:   “Terry Collins on Anaheim- I am held accountable for what happened in the clubhouse.   I should have head it off but I didn’t.”

OK, asked and answered.  Move on.

I don’t feel like I know too much about the guy but my first impression is that the days of a clownfest in the clubhouse are now over.   To parrot a well-used line, it does seem that the adults are in charge.
