The majesty that is a Keith Hernandez groan

Keith reads newspaper
As most of you know, Keith Hernandez is forced against his will to sometimes broadcast Mets games. He is not shy about letting everyone know about how disgusted he is to have to work and sit through another horrible Mets game. Sparks caught one of the wonderful Keith Groans last night..and there were many.

UPDATE: I have been playing this back for my own enjoyment – is it possible this is actually a Ronnie Groan?  Discuss!

Do you like the Mets towel thing? I don’t.

I fear this towel thing catching on in the stands. I don’t care if the players do it (although I am a believer in acting like you belong in the major leagues), but I worry about it catching on in the stands.

To me, it feels like something west coast fans would do. Like thunder sticks or monkey nonsense or whatever else I pay no attention.

I fear showing up in Queens and having a bunch of people waving towels. Just doesn’t seem like what WE do.

’86 Mets- The Movie Trailer

This looks like it could be fun. As a Mets fan and as a person who works in the film industry this interests me a lot.
3 Roads Communications and Canvasback Kid Productions are thrilled to announce their latest feature-length documentary, ’86 Mets: The Movie. The film is a look back at that team of outlaws who brought a Wild West attitude to Queens, earning the love of a city and a World Series trophy.

Why the ’86 Mets?: They were the last championship team in New York to reflect the true identity of a city that never sleeps. They were the perfect sports eulogy for a pre-Bloomberg New York. Also: Every Met fan on Earth wants this movie made.

Why the ’86 Mets in 2014?: The 30th anniversary of that championship season is coming up! And we don’t need retired numbers or commemorative plaques to celebrate the beloved ’86ers.

Why Kickstarter?: To bring this project up to major league level, we’ve started a Kickstarter campaign–its success will allow us to travel to California to film Kevin Mitchell and Jesse Orosco playing a cutthroat round of golf; film Pastor Darryl Strawberry preaching at his home base in Missouri; fund research, equipment, insurance, editing, post-production; and the all-important rights negotiations for the footage everyone wants to see!

’86 Mets: The Movie is Executive Produced by Michael J. Weithorn, creator of King of Queens, and features:
Bill Buckner admitting that he misses hanging out with Mookie Wilson if he doesn’t see him for awhile
Darryl Strawberry preaching about Strawberry Ministries, his calling beyond baseball
Lenny Dykstra revealing that “Nails” was just a character he played for the fans
Doc Gooden talking about how ’86 was the year baseball stopped being a game and started to be a job
Kevin Mitchell on his one glorious year as a Met and why it was only a year
The film also stars Charles Grodin, Rudy Giuliani, Chuck Schumer, writer Paul Auster, ’86 Mets Chaplain Fr. Murphy, and many, many more. Let’s go Mets!
