Parking at CitiField Has Gone Up

This just caused a mini uproar on twitter- This is from the Mets homepage. The price last year was $20 to park.

Citi Field Parking Rates
Pre-season / Regular Season
Cars: $22.00
Buses/Oversized: $40.00
Post-season
Cars: $25.00
Buses/Oversized: $60.00
Special Events
Cars: $30.00
Buses/Oversized: $80.00
U.S. Open
Cars: $22.00
Buses/Oversized: $40.00

Any commuters entering Southfield parking lot after 9am on day games will be charged the event rate of $22.00. Any commuter entering Southfield parking lot after 12(noon) on night games will be charged event rate of $22.00.

I wonder if it will be cheaper when the parking lot is turned into a mall with mall parking. Speaking of that how do you differentiate between mall shoppers and Mets fans parking for a game? Is there dynamic parking pricing?

You can still get 12 seats together for Mets Opening Day

It’s that time of year where I like to see if I can sit with my 11 friends at Opening Day at Citi Field.

Let’s take a look…

As a comparison I tried to buy 12 Yankees Opening Day tickets (the site capped me at 9, so 9)…

No luck. So I tried to buy just 4

Oh well…I wonder if we can go to a Phillies game…

….yes we can.

Make of this what you wish.

Intervention: Jose Reyes is never coming back to the Mets

formerly mets jose reyes jerseyI see the internet is pining for Jose Reyes again.

Here are some quick reminders….

1.  The Mets are owned by the same people who owned them yesterday.

2.  Jose Reyes has a ridiculous contract thanks to the Marlins.  Here are the numbers (via baseball reference).  Note that David Wright’s contract peaks at $20 million.

2014 31 Toronto Blue Jays $16,000,000
2015 32 Toronto Blue Jays $22,000,000
2016 33 Toronto Blue Jays $22,000,000
2017 34 Toronto Blue Jays $22,000,000
2018 35 Toronto Blue Jays *$22,000,000 $22M Team Option, $4M Buyout

In what fantasy do you think the Mets are taking on that contract?  I’m sure you will now suggest that Toronto is just gonna chip in $10 million of it because they are cool like that.  Let’s say they do.  In what fantasy do you think the Mets are playing Jose Reyes $12 million?

They should have traded him when they had the chance for the same reasons they traded Beltran (aka Wheeler) and Dickey (aka Syndergaard and D’Arnaud).

If you enjoy watching Jose play baseball in New York just wait until 2015 and ask someone where you catch the 4 train.

Move along.

Main-stream media article pencils Murphy in, moves on to rest of Mets lineup!!

daniel murphy thanks mets

Whoa check this out from Bill Madden….

Putting aside Daniel Murphy at second and David Wright at third, from whom the manager will be satisfied to get just normal seasons, we went up and down the lineup and then to the pitching staff to determine what would be a 90-win formula.

An article that just pencils in Murphy!!!!!!!!  Wow!!!!!!!

In other news Mets fans, if the below is the plan…you’re going to be booing a lot.

No matter where Chris Young plays in the outfield, Collins is looking for him to match or surpass his career bests of 32 homers and 91 RBI. No one expects Curtis Granderson to approach his 40-plus homer production of 2011-12 now that he’s playing at Citi Field, but anything less than 25 bombs and 90-plus RBI, especially if he also has 170-plus strikeouts, will be a huge negative for the Mets.
