Maybe what the Mets need is a Take No Prisoners Attitude.  Imagine all your Wally Backman fantasies except this time the manager REALLY DGAF as Pete Alonso might say.

These could be the new Mets.  They hate you, they hate the other teams, they hate hate hate…

…we could bring in all the worst unlikeable players in the league…who cares as long as they are good at baseball.

And who better to lead the squad than Player-Manager Javy Baez.

The Mets could wear black uniforms and chant LFGM and just be total a-holes.  A lot of you would probably like this, and it does seem to fit the vibe of the post-Wilpons era.

The problem is, the accountants will never go for a player-manager.

Will Javy Baez manage the Mets? No.

METS STATEMENT ON THE PASSING OF PEDRO FELICIANO

Dr. Evil might be a better choice for General Manager than manager (we offer your free agent….ONE MILLION DOLLARS)…but that’s not the bit.

We do know that Dr. Evil can successfully manage things.  And to my delight, his managerial style is straight out of the 1960s.  He’ll let the starting pitching throw 10 or 11 innings, and when one of the suits tries to explain Analytics to him he will have no idea what they are talking about.

“Dr. Evil, this is deGrom’s third time through the lineup, don’t you think we should use 7 relievers to get these last 9 outs?”

“Zip it!”

Also I think it would be cool if the base coaches were issued uniform Number 2 and Number 3.

The only issue, do the Mets want to have an evil billionaire running things? I don’t think that would turn out well.

Will Dr. Evil manage the Mets? No.

 

 

Hey remember earlier in 2021 when the Mets let the inmates run the asylum.?  Remember how the Mets Beat ran hard with this joke?  Remember when Vulgar Pete credited Donnie Stevenson with his success?   Remember how the beat and Pete were shocked…SHOCKED…when Chili Davis got fired?  Remember how Chili Davis got fired at then the Mets fell out of first place and the Braves won the World Series?

So at this point…screw it, let’s hire Donnie Stevenson.

It’s arguably not the worst idea.  We have one of the core Mets players thinking this bit is funny.  We had players boo the Mets fans.  So why not go all-in on Trash Branding.  Bring back black uniforms and let Donnie Stevenson manage the whole thing.

Will Donnie Stevenson manage the Mets?  Maybe.

METS EXTEND QUALIFYING OFFER TO OUTFIELDER MICHAEL CONFORTO & RHP NOAH SYNDERGAARD

 

FLUSHING, N.Y., November 6, 2021 – The New York Mets today announced they have extended a qualifying offer to outfielder Michael Conforto and RHP Noah Syndergaard.

 

Conforto, 28, has hit .255 with 141 doubles, 132 homers and 396 RBI over seven seasons with the Mets.

 

Syndergaard, 29, is 47-31 with a 3.32 ERA (265 earned runs/718.0 innings) in 121 games, 120 starts during six seasons with New York.
