Did the Mets censor Dom Smith’s shirt?

I saw the photo below on the Mets’ twitter account.

Now…did Dom place a sqaure on his shirt or did the Mets doctor the photo?

The shirt appears to be a design which has (when not censored) a man giving the middle finger.   This is part of a series of things that places an F between LGM.

I asked the @mets account about this but they have not gotten back to me.

Open Letter to the @Mets: Retire 17 for Keith Hernandez

Dear Mets,

Hopefully you had the opportunity to watch the documentary about the 1986 Mets.

You know what it reminded us all, even though we knew it…..

KEITH HERNANDEZ WAS REALLY BLEEPING GOOD

I know it’s the 21st Century and we’re supposed to get all gaga when someone hits 53 HRs (ooooh home runs) but KEITH HERNANDEZ WAS REALLY GOOD

Where do we start?

He could hit.

He could field the position like nobody ever.  Not before, not then, not since.

He was so good he made Whitey Herzog lean on umpires to start enforcing rules – specifically that both feet need to in-bounds as the pitch is thrown.

Then there is the field general stuff.  Those of us who lived through it know he CHANGED THE CULTURE, a phrase you throw out every year when you introduce the new manager, new general manager, new owner.  You’ve changed the culture 5 times since Mikey Callaway changed the culture.  All talk, all losers.  Keith actually changed the culture.

Watch the documentary – you will hear Keith’s teammates tell you the stories.  He was the leader.

And we all know eventually you will retire 17.

So let me ask you – why don’t you just do it.

Keith is around.  Keith is healthy.  Let’s have a day for Keith and let everyone know how much we love him and how much he meant to us.

You will do it eventually, but learn from your Seaver mistake.  You waited and waited and waited and Seaver will never see his statue.  He couldn’t even make it to the announcement.  Shame on you.

So rather than waiting until Keith passes away at the ripe old age of 137, let’s just do it.  There is no reason to wait.

Any Mets fan cringes when we see someone else wearing 17.  It’s not right.  It’s Keith’s number.  We all know it.  Let’s just codify it.

The more I think about this, it’s a sin this hasn’t happened already.  We don’t have a time machine, but we do have today.  This could be a five second decision for Steve Cohen.  Just make the call Steve.  Howie and the Alumni committee are not going to fight you on this.

….

This brings up a parallel discussion about 8 and Gary Carter.  8 seems retirement worthy as well, and has been unofficially retired in that 24 kind of way.  The difference is, unfortunately, and this is the point of the above, that Gary Carter can’t be at Gary Carter Day.

So I propose to you – announce 17, 8 and 5 will all be retired.  Have Keith Day next summer, Wright Day the summer after and Carter Day in 2024.

Stop jerking around.  You’re going to do it.  Do it today.

Mets owner Steve Cohen wants you to be a snitch?

I am busy so let’s crib off Bleacher Nation as I haven’t had time to study this…

Bleacher Nation Writes:

Mets Owner Steve Cohen Tried to Get a Source Outed on Twitter Using a Fan Ticket Contest?

I don’t even know what to say about the Mets, man. I’m not TRYING to constantly laugh at their (self-inflicted) problems, but when the owner is out there just airing everything again and again, it’s pretty difficult not to notice.

The latest installment of lolMets starts with a relatively innocuous report in the New York Post about how Mets owner Steve Cohen and team president Sandy Alderson plan to proceed with their next year’s worth of hiring/firing decisions (president/GM, manager). The report includes some quotes on the Mets’ purported thinking from an anonymous MLB exec.

The quote from the article, which is just one dude’s opinion and would be ignored by most responsible adults: “Cohen is out there tweeting about the organization and about stuff that he shouldn’t be tweeting about like he’s a fan. Why would somebody want to sign up for that? I think it’s a huge issue.”

Then, in an almost perfectly display of proof, Cohen took to Twitter with one of the most unorthodox steps I’ve ever seen: he wanted the source outed and created a CONTEST to generate attention for it.

 via Bleacher Nation.

Hmmm.   Here’s the tweet.

And to stay on brand…Steve knows a lot about third place finishers…

Steve you better hope the MLB Playoffs adopt the same policy.

There is NOTHING to like about this black wearing, game losing, fan hating, vulgar team.  Not the players and not the owners.

Just remember, when the WIlpons are gone, all will be better.  Right?

Now the Queens Baseball Convention added guest Lyin’ Todd Frazier!

Hmmmm….first the Queens Baseball Convention announces Gary Cohen (and Ron Darling).  I have been known to criticize Gary.

Now they go an invite Lyin’ Todd Frazier.

What’s next?  Gelbs? Pete Alonso? Donald Trump Supporter Mike Piazza?  The entire staff of Metsmerized?

Is Media Goon trying to make me miserable?  Can I just not show up?

I was going to avoid Gary Cohen by wearing a The 7 Line t-shirt, which as you know comes with a cloak of invisibility making it so Gary cannot see anyone in such a shirt.

How does one avoid Todd?  Maybe I come dressed as an umpire?  An alien from War of the Worlds?

TODD FRAZIER TO APPEAR AT THE 2021 QUEENS BASEBALL CONVENTION

September 15, 2021 – Following up on yesterday’s announcement that Ron Darling and Gary Cohen will be attending the 2021 Queens Baseball Convention, organizers today revealed that former Mets third baseman and New Jersey native Todd Frazier would also be attending the event on Saturday, November 13, 2021.

Frazier, who played for the Mets from 2018-2020, will be making his first appearance at the QBC

“Todd was such a fan favorite here in Queens that when the opportunity arose to have him appear at the QBC, of course we had to say yes” said QBC co-founder Keith Blacknick.

“Being a local guy, Todd is very familiar with the passion of Mets fans, even before he joined the team” added Blacknick’s partner Dan Twohig. “With the QBC being run by fans, for fans, it’s a natural fit to have Todd come.”

Frazier will take part in a panel discussion, followed by an audience Q&A session. Following the Q&A he will then sign autographs for those attending. (Pricing to be announced at a later date).

In addition to appearances, panels, and autograph sessions, the QBC will also include panels on other fan and Mets related topics, as well as a host of vendors.

Ticket and autograph pricing will be announced soon with tickets going on sale in the coming weeks . For more information or for inquiries, please email us at [email protected], or follow us on social media (Twitter @QBConvention or Facebook www.facebook.com/QueensBaseballConvention)
