I do not believe the Mets are dumping tickets on Stubhub

Once again I am starting to hear from folks who are accusing the Mets of dumping tickets on Stubhub.

In November 2010 Ceetar transcribed Dave Howard as saying “We don’t do that. wouldn’t do that.”

In May 2010 I transcribed Dave as saying “Any suggestion the Mets are dumping tickets on Stubhub is ridiculous.”

What I think is happening is that brokers have large swaths of seats that become available.  I refuse to believe that Mr. Howard would go on the record like that if he were lying.

It’s just a matter of time until variable aka dynamic aka market pricing comes to Citi Field and this all becomes a moot point.  Here’s language from the 2011 Giants website:  “Market pricing applies to all tickets.  Rates can fluctuate based on factors affecting supply and demand.”

Would it make you feel better or worse if the Mets were blatantly charging a discount for tonight’s freezebox, or a premium the day they play a good team on a sunny day?

I also don’t understand why people get mad at discount seats.  The Mets are in the business of selling you tickets and getting you to buy food and merch.  The baseball is the excuse for all this.  Nobody put a gun to my head and made my buy a 15 game plan.  I choose to.  I choose not to pay $19 to park.  I choose not to pay for whatever a hot dog costs now.  I choose to buy blue caps.

If you want to got o a game buy a ticket form whatever source you can (hey, even Mets Police Tickets – who doesn’t love a bargain) and do the best you can for yourself.  No?

D’Alessandro with the stupidest article of the day

OH MY GOODNESS IT HAS BEEN 7 GAMES.  Already writing about Terry Collins?

Never mind that he’s a mere stopgap.”

What?  Are we really looking forward to the next manager after SEVEN GAMES?

The second oddest thing about it was, it already feels like he’s running out of chances to leave a positive impression.

Wow.  I don’t even know what to say.  This has to be a new record for “the mainstream media.”   Y’all can read whatever you want, but I’m starting to wonder if we shouldn’t all spend our time reading reasonable opinions on the intertubes rather than sensational headline attempts like the below.  Boy have things changed.

Stupidest article of the day, but Andy Martino’s calling us racists is going to be tough to beat for stupidest of the year.  He may have locked up the Mazzilli Award already.

The 1986 Mets are 2-3.  Davey must go.

Citi Field starting to feel like home to me

For the first time yesterday Citi Field kinda sorta felt like home.

Year 1 was of course the year of not knowing where anything was…and Year 2 the year of “hope they fixed it.”

Yesterday, as I showed Mrs. Mets Police around for the first time, I felt like I knew the place.  I knew where to find Mr. Met, I knew the story of the Shea Bridge, I knew which stand would have some lukewarm chocolate flavored water.  (By the way, on Day One at least one stand had credit card machine failure – time to change that or at least warn us before we spend $20 in food – that “sign” below says Cash Only)

Anyways, I have a few memories in the place now.  I have “my” seats and my favorite places.  I have my own Citi Field routines.  There still isn’t a definitive on-field memory but that will come in time.

I’ll be out there again tonight.  I’m hoping that they give away parkas with the ski caps.  I’d tell you to look out for a fat guy in a Mazzilli jersey but I’ll be the fat guy in two sweatshirts, a Mets coat, and a Mazzilli jersey.

Corey you were right – I heard Howie say that the 7pm start was selected to accommodate a possible rain-out yesterday.  I’m not sure that and/or the possibility of a day-nighter today ever made sense but apparently that was the plan.

New York Mets Disney collectors pins

@newyorkmets tweeted: This year there is a pin of the month with Disney characters. ONLY 500 available first homestand of each month

Some folks noticed that there is no pin for October.  Ya Gotta Believe.

It’s good to see Mickey has good taste in jerseys.
