In the first, Matt gets the first two hitters before giving up a single.  Let’s see what kind of stuff Matt has today.

But that’s all the damage, and we’re onto the 3d down 1-0.

I think Matt got two quick outs but my wife started taking to me and I am pulling this game in with rabbit ears and duct tape as it is…..but I did see Vlad take TDK deep.

In the 4th, two outs, then a triple.  Matt gets a ground ball to third and ERROR and look at Matt’s face.

End of 4 and it’s 3-1 Buffalo Jays.

I didn’t see the 5th because that’s when I learned the Mets black jerseys are returning in July, but it was a 1-2-3 for TDK.

And a rare 6th inning appearance for Matt.  Um, Bruce Hyde, are you insane?

Matt gets an out before walking a batter which prompts a visit from a mysterious bearded man.

Matt takes in the advice…gets a pop-up….and then Bruce Hyde decides not to push his luck!

The final line, 5.2ip, 6 hits, 3 runs all earned, a walk and 2 Ks.

For the Orioles without John Means, that’s a great start which means…

MATT HARVEY WILL RETURN

I like The Mets, but I don’t like the Mets.

With the owner tweeting that we are on day closer to black jerseys, people are saying that can’t wait to see what I say.

Nothing new here but….

They look bad.

They are ok looking on civilians who want to wear something as they walk around, they look bad on baseball fields.

The black road jersey looks better than the home jersey.

The all black cap looks better than the hybrid cap, which is the term for the black cap with the blue bill.

The hybrid cap looks bad because the color scheme creates a color illusion that wind sup making the NY part look purple from a distance.  You can kind of see the effect below.

I understand wearing them for 9/11.

I understand 20 year nostalgia points.

I could even understand but dislike making them Friday night alts or something.

Dropshadow is terrible and does not need to come back ever. It just clutters the look.

There is no need to have the black ball logo.

The people who will celebrate these also seem to be the people who add F to LGM, this is not my crowd.

Mike Piazza, often associated with black jerseys, attended a rally to support the re-election of President Trump.

Where are the on-field Pride jerseys?

Why would you not want your baseball team to look like this?  (Look at Gilkey’s cap, you can see the purple effect.)

But whatever, as I said to Media Goon yesterday, while I like The Mets, right now I don’t really like the Mets.  I don’t have a favorite player, I am not interested in attending, I don’t care for the vulgarity and even though they are in first I have no attachment to this squad.   That’s never been the kind of fan I am.  I’m around during the lean times as well as the good.  Right now the wallet is closed.  If they make something I like, I will buy one….been wearing my 4th of July cap all week and it looks good on me….but it will likely look lousy on field.

Chris Creamer’s Sports Logos has a great rundown of the 2021 All Star Game caps and uniforms and they are horrible.  The caps are whatever, but look at this disaster of a jersey.  Even worse, MLB will have these worn IN GAME.  I am already seeing enough backlash to that online that I won’t be surprised if that decision is reversed.  My wallet is closed.

I don’t believe we yet know what the back will look like.
