Post-Game notes

Pelfrey has a 1.19 ERA in his last 5 starts wow. I’m tempted (really tempted) to call him the ace but Santana puts up zeroes and is a horse.

Pelfrey and Barajas seem like All-Star locks but I wonder if they will be the only two.

Niese gets the start on Thursday. They’ll hold Dickey for Friday against Baltimore. Hopefully the awful O’s cure the road woes.

Some shot by Ike!

I still don’t like replay

I said it last week and I will say it again. Baseball has been fine for 140 years without replay.

I’m glad Reyes got a home run. I would have been OK with it being a double. I’m fine without taking half an hour to review Pagan’s hit in the 10th.

What I would like to see is an outfield fence that is clear. No lines. If it goes over it’s a home run. Move the fences in two feet where need be and make them shorter where there is a silly line.

….

Before I forget, great job by Howie tonight. He scolded the crowd for doing the wave, and was enthusiastic about keeping Pelf in the game.

Strasburg: like Gooden on a Friday night

Kids,

I’ve told you about the 1980’s and a young man named Dwight Gooden.

Doctor K was 21 years old and had 60 wins. Sixty! Clearly he and his pal Darryl were on their way to the Hall of Fame, as Mets. Doc for sure, he was a lock.

Sometimes Gooden would be scheduled to throw on Friday and Shea would rock like no other place on Earth. Shea was the place to be, and it was filled with not just Mets fans, but the kinds of people who showed up at a Knicks and Rangers games in the 90’s and the kinds of people with Joba t-shirts.

I’ve told you youngsters that no matter how I describe it that you won’t “get it.”

Watch Strasburg’s next start and you’ll catch a glimpse. Nice job rook.

New Alternate Mets Caps for 2010 #8

Tonight I have two caps….why do the Expos have a better looking cap?   Top to bottom it’s better….the “eb/M” is better than the Mets baseball and the color is just better.  Better being a relative term.  Having 6 months to live is “better” than having three.

Why does the Mets cap look so purple?  Is it purple or does blue + orange make purple?  Why do all Mets color combinations look purple?  Most importantly WHO BUYS THESE?

Fitness and Nutrition Day at Citi Field

I thought of the same trainers jokes you did. Be nice. That was 2009. In 2010 the trainers are cool guys that help diagnose knee problems.
