Most Popular on Mets Police (Opening Day edition)

Normally I do this on Sunday but here we are on Opening Day.  I’m heading out to Citi to meet the Blue Cap Army, and lots of cool posts went up last night which should be plenty of content for you to look at.   Expect fewer posts today, but follow along on twitter.com/metspolice or you can see the tweets right on the main Mets Police page.

Yesterday I had a ball at Citi Field (even met Mets Police fans!) and took a ton of pics, some of which are linked right here:

I feel Citi Field has finally become the home of the Mets!

Last week was an amazin’ week for Mets Police.  We were mentioned in the New York Times! There’s tangible evidence that all this blogging actually changed something for better – and that was that the Mets quickly responded in repairing the errant Game 7 brick.

Here’s the recap of most popular articles and some they I think deserve a second look.  Please feel encouraged to sign up for the free daily email so you never miss an article (plus you can goof off at work.)

A while back I suggested some traditions for Citi Field.  Meet me at The Apple is now checked off.

A guest post suggested Mets fans stop the booing.

Give Osh41 props, he does a good job with uniform articles.

Yankee Stadium Demolition pictures: 14 of them, 14 more and a video.

If you’re new, this regularly gets clicked: It might make financial sense, but it sure is annoying to think Bobby Bonilla will get $1 million a year from the Mets from 2011-2035.

23 photos from Sunday’s New York Mets workout

Wow I have been blogging for three hours and I’m getting sleepy…here’s one more set for y’all tonight.  I still have lots and lots of photos to go through, plus I haven’t even opened the one’s Media Goon sent (and he is a much better photographer) and I didn’t post any from the stores yes, more merchandise to comment on) and the Blue Cap Army hasn’t met yet, and Opening Day pics and….well, this should be a good week for content.

However, my eyes are getting heavy….

… but it was a great day.

I leave you with these pictures from today’s workout.  Click on them to make them bigger:

Pictures of Citi Field’s Shea Bridge and other interior tweaks

Here’s a collection of shots of new things at Citi Field for 2010, most notably the Shea Bridge.

If you look at the photo gallery attached to this post (click “continue reading” if you are on the main page) those blue and orange speckles are the new paint job on the bathroom floor.

The Ebbetts Club has been renamed the Champions Club.

The children’s area has been reconfigured.   The dunktank is now where the batting cage was.  The videogame area is gone (or at least moved).   The batting cage is now behind the t-ball field.

When you enter the rotunda you’ll see today’s lineup posted above the escalator (using Topps cards).   The lineup used to be posted above concession stands along first and third – those displays now feature Met heroes of the past (enjoy my lousy photography).

Plenty of pictures follow…

Pictures of Mets Hall of Fame and Museum: 30 more assorted photos

This next section of pictures from the Mets Hall of Fame and Museum are from my “random” collection.  I’m trying to group things like Seaver exhibit, announcers exhibit and such.

Take a quick look at this photo.  What colors do you see?

My general feeling about Citi Field today is that the color black is being de-emphasized in the color scheme.

Next year is the franchise’s 50th season – might be a good excuse to go to a traditional look!

I digress…here are 30 pictures from inside the museum.

21 Pictures of the outside of Citi Field includes Seaver and Hodges gates

As I have been saying all day, Citi Field now feels like the home of the Mets.  It’s all the little touches that add up.

Renaming the gates goes a long way – here’s the Hodges entrance on the first base side.  You’ll find Seaver on the right hand side.   Also on the first base side are new colorful banners including one of a retro Mr. Met.  I apparently didn’t take any good photos off that – will work on that for you.

The Apple looks fantastic in the new place – very bright and red and seems somehow bigger.

Various photos including the apple and the Seaver gate and just a general walk around, definitely click on them to make them bigger so you can see better…
