It has been brought to my attention that new Mets board of director Jeanne Melino’s bio ends with “Ms. Melino is a life-long New Yorker and was born and raised in the Bronx.”
That’s interesting. I imagine being born and raised in the Bronx she must be a big time Mets fan as most people born and raised in the Bronx who were alive in the late 1970s and late 1990s are.
The gang at Hat Club was selling these but unfortunately this one sold out before I got to post this morning.
The theme is mashing hockey with baseball – so the Cardinals’ cap in the color of the St. Louis Blues is pretty sweet (not sure Hat Club hat that one but I saw it somewhere on line).
Anyway, for the Mets they mashed with the Islanders Fisherman jersey and made this snazzy cap. Alas, it’s sold out so I will have to buy one of @mediagoon’s 10 extras.
If there are three things Matt Harvey loves, they are Babes, Burritos and the New York Yankees. Matt loves the Yankees so much that he’s been known to pick attending a Yankee game over a Mets game…and that was when he was ON the Mets.
So imagine how excited Matt was to attend a Yankees game today AND be the starting pitcher.
Matt faces off against a batting title kind of player and…SIT DOWN SON!
Made it to Sarasota where the #Yankees are taking on the #Orioles this evening.
And a rare 4th inning appearance for The Real Deal. I don’t mean because it’s spring training and he’s not stretched out, I mean it’s rare because he can’t pitch out of trouble and never lasts 4 innings.
Another 1-2-3 inning for Matt Harvey. Through 4 vs. Yanks, one run on one hit. Some loud outs, but that’ll play.
So if you are a halfway decent looking waitress in the Sarasota area and you see a man who looks happy and he offers to buy you a burrito or a beverage…say yes….you might just be talking to a member of the Orioles rotation!
Until he starts giving up a ton of home runs in Camden Yards. But that’s April’s problem. Ignore that loud out thing in that tweet. Let the guy enjoy a Saturday night out on the town of Sarasota.
"I think Matt looks good… my hope is that he's healthy"
I realize nobody can be bothered to read of google when you can just go to Metsmerized and stare at posts about fringe prospects but….here are some excerpts from an article in Vanity Fair about Steve Cohen’s relationship with Mets Board Of Directors Member Chris Christie.
Chris Christie’s tenure as governor of New Jersey was largely defined by his status as one of the most hated men in the Garden State. He gutted public-school funding and regularly brawled with constituents. He closed state beaches on Fourth of July weekend, only to be caught lounging on one without a care in the world. Then, of course, there was “Bridgegate,” an act of petty retribution the governor supposedly knew nothing about, despite the fact that it sounded exactly like something he would do.

Yukking it up at a party to celebrate the release of his memoir, Let Me Finish, at the 9,000-square-foot penthouse of hedge-fund manager Steve Cohen—which could be yours for the severely discounted price of $45 million—Christie reportedly regaled the crowd with his takes on the 2020 field.

Cohen’s Midtown duplex was a fitting pit stop on Christie’s current rehabilitation tour, given their long, mutualistic relationship. When Cohen’s hedge fund S.A.C. Capital Advisors pleaded guilty to insider trading, Christie bucked Cohen up the very next day with an invite to his re-election party and a private dinner. (Cohen himself was never charged.) Later, in 2015, Cohen wrote sizable checks to a pro-Christie super-PAC back when the governor had his eye on the White House.
The Mets, who recently added Donald Trump enabler Chris Christie to their Board of Directors, put this statement out Thursday.
“We are proud that our home in Flushing is also the home to more Asian and Pacific Islander New Yorkers than any neighborhood in the City. We are raising our voices alongside our colleagues and neighbors in the tri-state area to say that anti-Asian violence is intolerable and repugnant. We have offered our help to our local leaders to assist them to put an end to this prejudice and hate. What makes New York New York is the respect we all have for each other, no matter who we are or where we’re from. We have no room or time for hate in New York. #StopAsianHate”
