Dom Smith who is TOTALLY NOT HURT will be the Mets DH tonight

It has been over a week since I started paying close attention to this.  Dom Smith, the every day left fielder (playing out of position), is once again NOT GETTING ANY REPS IN LEFT FIELD.

Clearly this suggests something is physically wrong.

What do the Mets know?  When will they admit it?  When will the beat cover it?

Why can’t he run, Mets?  What’s the deal?

Uh oh, Carrasco’s sore elbow leads to Mets questions you won’t like

Here are some questions you won’t like.

Did the Indians win the Lindor trade?

Is the Mets’ rotation any good?

Luis Rojas told reporters on Wednesday. Rojas said that the (elbow) soreness came after Carrasco’s live batting practice earlier this week, and that it’s nothing too concerning because it’s something the right-hander has experienced before in camp. The Mets manager also added that he does not believe Carrasco will receive an MRI but he will be shut down from throwing for a few days. (via CBS Sports)

Also remember the Mets let JDG throw 100 in March and no good ever comes of that.  Don’t get at me.

Mets excited that Vulgar Bear Pete Alonso is walking!

The Mets are excited that Pete Alonso walked three times against some team’s minor leaguers in an exhibition game, so therefore all of Pete’s batting woes are solved.

“That is one of the things that got me excited the most in the game, just watching him walk,” manager Luis Rojas said. “Pete has got to take what they give him.”

“Three walks in spring training, those were just big at-bats, quality at-bats,” Rojas said. “And you’re sending the message about your discipline and letting everybody know they have to come to the zone. They have got to come to you. They have got to get you out.”  (via NY Post)

Look I can hear your twitter replies already – WHAT YOU DON’T WANT HIM TO WALK?

It’s good that the walks.  Anything other than a strikeout is good.   I am just, as always, warning everyone to tap the breaks before we declare he isn’t going to chase this slow and away pitches.

Let Pitchers Bat! Why is Luis Rojas not preparing his Mets team?

What the heck is this?

Luis Rojas was asked on Tuesday when he plans to start giving his pitchers some at-bats in preparation to hit again. The manager said, originally, pitchers were going to start hitting this week. That plan changed, and they will begin taking hacks a little later in camp.

“We’ve been waiting to see if there’s going to be a DH, and that definitely would help with a lot of the things that are going on just to keep everyone healthy as we have a bubble,” Rojas said.

This is insane.

GET THE TEAM READY FOR THE SEASON.

Let the pitchers bat.  The worst that happens is that MLB goes – PSCYHE, THERE IS A DH and then you don’t have the pitchers bat.  Why would you waste the practice games not getting them ready.

And why isn’t Dom getting reps in LF.

As I floated yesterday, is it possible that Sandy Alderson who was and maybe is (I am too busy to find out) on the Rules Committee knows that a DH is coming?

In the meantime, this is reckless.  The manager’s job in the spring is to get the team ready.  I’m seeing a team waste time. Not good.  I’m not sure Rojas is up to the major league job.
