Most Popular Articles On Mets Police (October 11)

You know it’s the offseason when the #1 article of the week was The Citi Field UFL Pricing and Seating Chart!

It seems like such a long time ago that it was Mets season.   Here’s the weekly recap of most popular articles and those that deserved better.

In my corner of the universe the most important stories were:

We’re getting a Mets Hall of Fame/Museum Thingy!

Dave Howard says we overreacted to the (cough) sightline problems.  So I put together this compilation of photos and videos for him, and I invite David to join me in the Promenade for a game in 2010.  I’ll buy the beer.

I want them to bring Mettle the Mule back!

Don’t you think Lee Mazzilli would make a great first base coach?

Did you enjoy the last appearance of the snow-white pinstriped uniforms?

Do you believe in the Curse of Coogan’s Bluff?  (Citi needs to honor the Giants)

Ok so I’ve covered David Howard, obstructed views, uniforms, Mazzilli and the NY Giants….that’s all my touchstones….nice week for me!  Here’s the rest:

This Vanity Fair recap of the 2009 season really illustrates how horrible it was.

Here’s video of Jeff Wilpon explaining 2010 to Chris Carlin.

Would you listen to an all-Mets radio station?  Imagine some fat guy complaining about uniforms for three hours.  Every day.

We super-analyzed the letter that went out to season ticket holders, and I’m not convinced that Joe Average Fan will get discounts.

Is Keith Hernandez leaving SNY?  Hope not.

Always popular:

Doug Flynn Sang With The Oak Ridge Boys?

The Post had a nice article about Doug Flynn…

He played with the Mets from 1977-81. When baseball went on strike in ’81, Flynn traveled a bit with the Oak Ridge Boys and sang on tour with them. He still loves to sing and pairs up with Bench at their successful golf tournament every year on cabaret night.

Photo Tour Of Coors Field (Part 2)

Yesterday we took you out to Coors Field where we spent a lot of time at the brewery.   Today let’s walk around a little.

Nice to see Wheatley at the Grill.

When I buy the Rockies I am changing the mascot to Rocky the mule.  This is Dinger.  L-a-m-e.

Too many ads for my taste.   Every ballpark since Camden looks the same now.

I’m surprised that the Mets didn’t add pine trees and water spouts when making contrivances like the Pepsi porch and the irregular fence.

“Rockies” – is that the name of the bank that sponsors the stadium?

Man, James Bond sent me more pictures of the microbrewery (see yesterday).  Watch the game dude.

It’s the Something Yard Deli.   Lines seem pretty short.  I wonder if their credit card machines work, unlike certain stadiums I can think of.

More from Coors Field tomorrow.

Photo Tour Of Coors Field (Part 1)

Before Joe Torre sends them packing, I thought it would be fun to explore Coors Field.  First let me say that it’s amazing that a stadium still has the original name.

This outside looks very nice to me.

So my friend that took these is some sort of International Man of Mystery.  He leaves the city every weekend and drinks.   So of course he sent us pictures of the microbrewery.

A microbrewery at Citi would be a cool idea…maybe some Brooklyn Brewery action to make Fred happy. I wonder if Jeff is a Mets fan or if he likes the Dodgers too?

Hey there’s some old pictures of…..Dodgers????  Looks like we have a lot in common with Colorado.  Oh wait, there’s a NY Giant – forget it.

Like I said, this guy travels and drinks beer…maybe he’ll take us inside eventually….but the bar does look fun (and Citi sure could use something like this – or a “Stan’s” over on 126th.)

Well we’ve finally made it to the seats, looks like we have good ones – and Huston Street is on the mound.

The netting annoys me, but looks like James Bond had nice seats.

Looks kind of nice.  These were taken on Sunday 9/27 when the Rockies were trying to bag a wild card…I guess everyone was watching the Broncos.

Enjoy the snow, more from Coors Field tomorrow.
