Baseball realizes it is boring, considers rules changes. I weigh in…

You may have seen that MLB is discussing some rules changes.  Good!  It’s about time they realize baseball is horribly boring and that nobody under 40 cares.

I’ve written about 7 Inning Games, the Universal DH and my plan t save baseball.

I’ve suggested The Free Agent Auction live on TV.  You WILL watch.

I’ve written about the idea for Last Licks, where you can use anyone you want in the bottom of the 9th.

I’ve suggested a Red Zone approach to the ALDS and NLDS.

I want to bring back the fun and the colors!

And I want to eliminate Extra Innings.

Let’s see what Baseball Itself is talking about…

  1.  Pitchers face three batters minimum.  GOOD!!!!  That will change the strategy, and it will stop the nonsense of 17 pitchers in one inning trying to get three outs.  Let’s steer this game back to “Gossage Saves” where someone would pitch 2 and 2/3 relief.   GOOD GOOD GOOD.
  2. Universal DH.   GOOD!!!   Blah blah its not real baseball, we’re the National League, tradition blah blah.  All that left in 1998 folks.  What’s the Home Run Record again?  You sure?  It’s absolutely insane that there are different rules for different games and you know all the straw arguments (the Warriors can’t shoot threes tonight because it’s an Eastern Conference Game.   Field Goals count for four because we’re in the NFC.  Etc)   Every league from your kid’s T-Ball team to Japan to the American League uses the DH.  Give it up.
  3. Runner on Second to start Extras.  No. Die.  I will start a militia to fight this.
  4. 26 Man Rosters.  NO.  Unless you cap pitchers at 10 or 11.  Some idiot will just carry one more middle reliever.  No no no.
  5. Lower the Mound.  NO.  I say RAISE the mound and have less people on base. Let’s keep the damn game moving.
