Mets @ BAL – Game 2 6/12/10 – Mets Bullpen Catcher Dave Racaneillo. “Rac” (who took a second to toss me the ball he warmed up K-Rod with) has been the team’s Bullpen Catcher since 2000 and has worn a Mets uniform longer than any active player or coach, catching every pitcher the Mets have had over the past decade, from John Franco to Francisco Rodriguez. I don’t think so, he has never been a player. I believe he gets played for each game
i remember reading a great article about how he got his job and what it entails a while back…don’t feel like searching for it not, but it is out there in case someone is interested
