Why do we throw garbage on the floor at baseball games?

Another interesting quote from David Howard:

But, typically, when people go to their seats, they just drop it (garbage) on the floor, which is sort of a baseball tradition

On Opening Day my son asked about that.  He wanted to throw his garbage away and his uncivilized dad told him to throw it on the floor in front of his seat.  He questioned me about it like 5 times.  Yep, go ahead.

He had a ball with the idea of it and later in the game he gleefully chucked his cup down.

It really is odd behavior.  How did this begin and why are we such animals?

..

All today’s David Howard fun comes from this article in the Times in which we also learn there are no modifications that could cut down the wind at Citi Field.

Most popular articles on Mets Police (May 9)

Happy Mother’s Day – here’s the weekly recap of the most popular articles:

I started a Tumblr which is a sort of micro-blog.  It should help me more quickly post random stuff I see, especially when at games – but will also let me post videos and quick audio.  I have a module on the main page (that’s it there on the right) so you can see the stuff – but on the Tumblr site you will be able to easily submit items.

There seems to be a lot of support for the idea of wearing NUEVA YORK jerseys in some cities, including Arizona (which is not a city).

Fan designed Mets-wear: Blue jerseys, caps, more caps.  A better hybrid?

A great read on Uniwatch about the two different Mets scripts and one being called the “Wilpon script.”

A great vintage Sears ad with Tom Seaver. My fave of the week.

The Mets record in April sorted by uniform

Should the Mets have retired microphones?

Should baseball teams taser fans?

What if Citi Field had an orange fence?
