Citi Field Tour

Today was the 1st day for the tours at Citi. When I went to the ticket window to pick up my ticket for the tour I had seen a sign that the tours for today and tomorrow were all sold out.

Each tour lasts about an hour give or take a few minutes and everyone today that work the tours were very cordial.

There was one older Mets fan who had a cane and you could tell walking the tour was going to be a little bit difficult for her. The tour guides come right out with a wheel chair for her and had one of the other guides be her escort to push the chair along the tour.

The tour meets up in the ticket office lobby where they gather the group of fifteen fans to go on the tour. Everyone received a Lets GO Mets keychain. (IMO a nice little touch)

Our guide introduced himself and we preceded to walk into the Jackie Robinson Rotunda. Now, before he got into talking about the Rotunda here are the two rules for the tour. No video is to be taken of the tour( DAMN IT and I had my video camera with me.) and two there is to be no pics taken in the clubhouse(for players privacy issues).
There was no going to any of these destinations: Promenade/Promenade Club, Kiddie Field, Pepsi Porch, Acela, and Champions Club.

The places we did hit were: the different suite levels, Delta 360 Lounge and Club, Caesers Club, Press Box, Production Suite, Dugout, on the field, The Modell’s Zone, the bullpen, the Mets Clubhouse, locker room, and players lounge.

The guide said that the Starting Pitcher of the Game picks the uniform combo of the day(sorry Shannon). He also picks the music that plays in the locker room before the game.

Theres a more info thats talked about on the tour but why should I ruin it for you if you want to go. Nice tour. Not bad for first day out, they ran pretty smooth. Just remember no videos on the tour. I got asked a few times if i was shooting video by three different Mets employees. I had to explain to them my video camera also shoots stills.

I have pictures that I will be posting later today when I have some more time.

Mets + GI JOE = NY MITES?

I just found this nifty little panel from an Old GI JOE comic circa late 1980’s early 1990’s.

Fine they changed the name from the Mets to the Mites but you can see the orange and blue racing stripes on Scarlett and company.

Thinking back on my comic book reading years, the Mets and Shea Stadium were in those books alot.

Found the pic on ToplessRobot.com

Mets Alumni Association

I just received this e-mail from the Mets.

The Mets who are embracing their own history these days started up the Mets Alumni Association last week.

Click thumbnails to see larger size.

Its nice to see Rusty, Mookie, Bud (I have an autographed ball from him), Ed Kranepool, and Al Jackson at the ballpark.

The Alumni Association, The Mets, and Citi gave the first award for “Teammates in the Community”. They gave this to a volunteer of the Wounded Warrior Project.

In my opinion good job by The Mets in honoring the community and their history/former players.

I’ll add this part just for Shannon. I notice the person that was given the award is wearing a Cooperston Collection Seaver Jersey. No black drop shadow there..

Subway Series ticket presales

As I did in the winter, I’m choosing to share information that pre-sales exist, but I won’t be posting codes.  I don’t think that’s cool to do (in a Fonzie way) as it hurts those who have earned the pre-sale and if the Mets wanted everyone to have a code they would post it on mets.com

Anyways, maybe you have a friend who can help you take advantage of these, or you can check your spamblocker.

Friday 10am: pre-sale for plan holders.    Max 6 tickets split any way you want.  6 for one game, Two, two and two.  Etc.  No special password, you either have an account or not.

Tuesday May 4th: available to Flushing Flash subscribers.  That’s a pretty large database, and if you aren’t signed up for the flash you should.

You may also choose to buy a 5 game Summer Premium Pack

As I learn of more, I’ll share.

Personally, I find the crowds at these games to be filled with knuckleheads (and it’s not just Yankee knuckleheads).   For me, it’s a good time to cash in on stubhub and off-set some other costs, and enjoy the beauty of my 60 inch television.  And Sunday Night games suck.

Injoy the floating feeling.
