No second Shake Shack

As I said earlier, Mets Police is not news it’s just a fat guy blogging.

A professional reporter, David Lennon has tweeted the following:

Got bad news. Direct from Jeff Wilpon: rumors of secod shake shack are false. But blue smoke and box frites added to citi promenade.

I assume Mr. Lennon is serious and not joking. I say that because he has been joshing all week.

13 more pictures of Citi Field modifications

Yesterday I posted some awesome pics that Media Goon took at Citi Field..here are some more.  What are they doing to the (real) apple?  And look at the uniform Gil is wearing compared to how they dressed Piazza and Franco.  Come on.

I like what I am seeing.  Does anyone know if other recent stadiums tweaked as much after year one?

Some quick off-field Mets related items

Some quick items this morning.

Unconfirmed item #1: Got a note from a Mets Police reader (I am so sorry I don’t know your first name, I just know you by your email account) who says:

they are also painting the floors of all the bathrooms and the entire excelsior level with this weird orange and blue non stick paint.  It looks like abstract art.

Unconfirmed item #2:  Chris says…

By the way the free gift [with ticket packages] is a ‘Floating’ Mets baseball.  Its worse then last years cardboard cutout.

Unconfirmed item #3: This morning WFAN’s Joe & Evan said Boomer and Carton will be at McFadden’s on Opening Day.

Unconfirmed item #4:   Brooklyn Met Fan says:

I was in touch with Team Gooden tues nite when I first heard whispers and  while I’m not at liberty to disclose any details I have heard Doc’s side and what has come out in the press is FAR from an accurate portrayal of what went down.

Blue Cap tip to Metsblog for catching that one (and thanks for linking to my Gooden story).  Here’s Brooklyn Met Fan’s site with more on this story.

The Mets should communicate with fans about the Hall of Fame and museum

One of the frequent knocks on the Mets organization is that they don’t communicate well.

With Gooden in the news, folks are thinking about the Mets Hall of Fame and museum.

I have posted a story in which a guard says it might not be ready for Opening Day.

This morning on WFAN Evan Roberts wondered why we are hearing nothing about it.

The perception is that it won’t be ready.

If there’s going to be a big ceremony on April 5th, why not announce it?

If it won’t be ready then just slip into the press notes that it will open “this summer.”   While you’re at it explain why.

In the meantime, this becomes one of those situations where the perception becomes that the Mets have no plan.

So Mets, I ask you: what’s the story?

As for Gooden, since they announced he was going in you have to put him in. Whether or not he’ll be able to attend remains to be seen.
