The Mets totally love David Wright..when there is money to be made

Hi…I still haven’t seen the Wright ceremony as things here at MI-6 are keeping me quite busy.  Some quick hits.

Some are asking for #8 to be retired.  Please understand the Cohens are running a business and there is no money to be made off Gary Carter because Gary can’t come to the ceremony.

The Mets loved David Wright when there was money to be made all week, but Sunday morning around 7am it was back to Product, as everything under the current management team seems to be.   They couldn’t keep the 5 icon up all weekend, they needed to market City Connects?

And thanks to Secret Source for sending this over Friday night (as I mentioned been very busy).  It’s good to see the Wilpons Cohens finally had $250 for paint to freshen up the faded numbers.

Queens Crew – surprisingly not so popular with Mets fans

I am shocked, shocked to find out nobody cares about the dance team.

Wow Alex, who could have predicted THIS!  And nobody cares about the DJ either?  I am SHOCKED!

Also, I love that they call it “Mid-inning activations” as if non-marketing people have any idea what you’re talking about.  Very telling about what the org things of the customers.   Well, that and that they market the guy who told the customers basically to go to hell.   You’re just a wallet.  Shut up and activate.

You just wait until the baseball game is just something for the Pit Boss to comp as if you’re getting something and they aren’t just giving you unsold inventory for that $100 you just lost at the blackjack table where the public parkland used to be.

Thanks to Secret Source for sending this one over.

Congratulations to the True Captain, David Wright

David Wright probably is the Truest Met of them all.

Of course Tom Seaver is The Franchise, but fate was cruel and took him away from us twice….but fortunately fate was kind and didn’t have a healthy Tom Seaver start Game 7 of the 1986 World Series for Boston because I think we know how that would have went.

David Wright never let us down.

He didn’t boo the fans.

He isn’t vulgar.

He didn’t sign with Miami six minutes into free agency.

He played his entire career, WITH HONOR, for the New York Mets.

All the other Captains have a bunch of other teams on their baseball cards…but not David Wright.  He’s Mister Met.

Congratulations Captain on your number being retired.  Hopefully the Cohens won’t be cheap and will keep yours nicely painted.

Vulgar Pete makes vulgar gesture in video with Mr. and Mrs. Met

Vulgar Pete still being vulgar.  Great brand you have Steve and Alex.

The gesture of placing one fist into the crook of the other elbow, while raising the opposite fist, is often a rude or offensive gesture, particularly in Southern Europe and Brazil. It can be similar to giving someone the middle finger or telling them to “get lost”. In some regions, it can also have sexual connotations.

Boooo – Are the Mets about to name Lindor Captain???? The Evidence and the anti-evidence

As the theory goes – MLB.com has posted a video.  (I haven’t seen the video on MLB.com but that’s how the theory goes).  In that video you will see the great Mets Captains Hernandez, Carter and Wright, as well as John Franco who was captain for some reason (and who for some reason seems to have been non-person’d during the Steve and Alex Cohen era, but that’s a topic for another day).

I am hoping this is a fan created video – as the clips of the previous captains have some VHS sheen to them, and the timeline is out of order,  If it IS a fan made video, then the fan is an idiot.

The end of the video includes Lindor, who of course did this to Mets fans.

Below is Javy Baez on the cover, the other player that did this to Mets fans, but everyone seems to have forgotten how this was covered.

But over the years “Mr. Smile” has worked the media – being accessible always helps, isn’t that right Barry Bonds? – so everyone with a microphone ignores things like the booing or this financial story.  Don’t ask questions, don’t rock the boat, keep your access.

So here we are.  David Wright’s big day. Are we going to pass the Captain torch to someone who obviously disliked Mets fans?  And would the Mets do that on DAVID’S DAY?

I’m going to continue to fight the good fight for the soul of the Mets.  We’ve actually gone backward here since the Wilpons left – the museum is gone, the uniforms have gotten worse, and the Mets have won ZERO championships here 5 years into Steve’s promise…..so sure let’s make the cornerstone a guy who was an a-hole to Mets fans.   People show their true colors when times are bad.

You can name Lindor captain, you can rename the team the Lindors, you can unretire #41 and issue it to Donald Trump.  Do whatever you want.

Booooooo
