MHN: LOL Orioles have to start MATT HARVEY on short rest!!!

Wow, Matt Harvey’s career may never end.  How bad are the Orioles? How desperate are the Orioles?

But will Matt’s career come to an end because of Another Harvey?

Maybe the Orioles can release Matt and issue #32 to Hunter in the same move – would save us all money on jerseys.  Me included!

This now lines Matt Harvey up to face the METS next week.  If he lives that long.  But then again, Brandon Hyde is telling you they don’t even have live bodies so sure, Matt Harvey on short rest, why not?

Red hot Pete Alonso is back baby with NO EXCUSES!

““I just felt like myself/ It felt good to go on [the IL], to get my hand right and to join the party again. It was real fun today.”

Those are the words of Vulgar Pete, who returned from the IL and hit his SEVENTH HOME RUN of the season, tying him for 72nd place among the MLB Leaderboard.

It is good to hear from Pete himself (and the New York Post which is much a propaganda machine for Pete as I am trying to run Pete out of town) – and it’s even better that he’s feeling healthy now because that means….NO EXCUSES….which is what I demand from the Steve Cohen era Mets.

The Wilpons are gone and Steve has money, so NO EXCUSES if they don’t win the World Series.

Pete is healthy, so I expect 10 home runs a month now, so he will finish with 47 HRS which is a lot but still less than 50 and he won’t join the club of eight players who have hit 50 twice.

And for all the new followers – why am I running Pete out of town?  He insists on adding an F to LGM.  And that must be stopped.   I have seen young prospect Pete Crow-Armstrong use the vulgar version.  I have seen players acquired by the Mets use it.  Just yesterday Pillar used it.  And that MUST NOT creep in to the culture here in Queens.  It’s Let’s Go Mets.  There is no F.

So Pete, welcome back, I look forward to your great season.  You’re going to have a great season now, right?

Go to bed instead – Mets game notes for May 31

Good evening!   It is May 31 and Pete Alonso is back baby.  He has six home runs!

Mets Police reminds you not to chase tonight’s game to 1am.  If you want to watch a little deGrom I understand, but really by 11 just give up on it.  You will thank me when the alarm goes off at 6:30.

RHP Sean Reid Foley, C Patrick Mazeika and OF Khalil Lee were optioned to Triple-A Syracuse yesterday.

OF Cameron Maybin and RHP Sam McWilliams have been designated for assignment.  Maybin finishes his Mets career with one hit I guess.  I didn’t fact check this but sounds right.

INF Pete Alonso (right hand sprain) and OF Kevin Pillar (multiple facial fractures) have been activated from the 10-Day IL.   Pillar tweeted a vulgar version of LGM earlier today so he is now my 24th favorite Met.  (Vulgar Pete is 25 and The Big Zero is 26th, except during doubleheaders when they all move down one spot.)

RHP Seth Lugo (right elbow surgery) has been activated from the 60-Day IL.

OF Mason Williams has been selected to the major league roster and will be active tonight…He will wear #70 as will @mediagoon who has purchased a Mason Williams Mets jersey.

The Mets have played the fewest games in the majors…The Mets have had three games postponed due to COVID-19 safety protocol, one suspended game due to rain, another postponed due to snow and six additional postponements due to rain…The team’s 10 postponements are the most in the majors…The Twins are second with six postponements.

deGrom is off to one of the best starts in major league history, posting a 0.60 WHIP and 0.80 ERA through his first seven outings over 45.0 innings…There have been nearly 8,000 (7,886 to be exact) individual starting pitcher seasons that have begun with at least 45.0 innings through seven starts and deGrom’s 0.60 WHIP is second only to Chris Sale’s 2014 season, when he started out with a very slightly lower 0.596 WHIP in his first seven starts…Only 15 pitchers have had a lower ERA through seven starts (min. 45.0 IP)…The last pitcher with a lower ERA in his first seven starts of a season was Kris Medlen (0.54 ERA in 2012 for Atlanta)…The only Mets pitcher with a better ERA through seven starts is Johan Santana (0.78 ERA in 2009).  Thee years later the Mets would wreck Santana’s career so you could all get Nohan t-shirts in one of the most reckless managing assignments of all time.

ATROCIOUSPete Alonso | INF | .236, 6 HR, 19 RBI, 0 SB

“Huge Presence” Pete Alonso who hits 3 HRs per month to return to Mets tonight!

Hello to all my new followers.  Yesterday was quite the feisty day on twitter as people DID NOT LIKE MY POV that I am not at all attached to Random Guys In Mets Uniforms Playing Games At OddBall Times.

To catch up the new folks, one of my VERY unpopular takes is that the Mets should have traded Pete Alonso after his rookie year.  In the history of baseball, only EIGHT players have hit 50 or more home runs twice.  Three of those names are McGwire, Sosa and A-Rod and…you know….

With Dom Smith in the organization, I feel the Mets should have traded Pete at his highest ever value and rebuilt the organization.  I also don’t think Pete is good at baseball.

I stuck to my guns last year and got told my opinions were stupid and Pete handed in a lousy year.  The people in the media who should know better because they saw the games spun it into Pete had an OK season.  They forget that three of Pete’s home runs came in the final weekend after the Mets were eliminated from an 8 team playoff which is nearly impossible to do if I spot you Jacob deGrom.  Steve should have fired Rojas, which is another topic.

Today is May 31.  Pete has six home runs.  That’s three per month.  Now you can tell me last year didn’t count for some reason, and well Pete was injured or whatever excuse you have for this season but the facts are Pete has six home runs on May 31 and you are making excuses.  What you are NOT doing is telling me Pete is having a good season.  Again.

The same people who get mad at this opinion are the same people who didn’t want to trade Matt Harvey for Mookie Betts.  Always trade high.  Always.

Luis Rojas says that the Mets will get a “huge presence” back tonight.  Yeah?  They seem to be doing fine.   They are in first place.  Seems fine to me.

Anyway, the “huge presence” is back.  I understand that it’s exciting when he hits a home run every 6 days, and he probably will hit 25 more this year and finish with an Ike Davis like 35.   Wow.    Now imagine what we could have brought back after 2019 with Dom now comfortable at first base and a proper outfielder playing left field.

Pete is tied for 83rd best in home runs.  Tied with say Wilson Ramos.

But I know the millennial don’t like old school stats.  Things like batting average and even home run totals are stupid, right.  Let’s add some numbers together and come up with OPS.

Pete’s OPS?

.769

Seven Sixty Nine?  Isn’t OPS supposed to be some kind of big number?   .769??

.769 is Kyle Tucker level good.   Kyle is an OFer on the Astros.  HE has eleven home runs.  He plays LF.  Pete Alonso for Kyle Tucker straight up, who says no?  Then we could play Dom at first!

The Post is already laying groundwork for MORE EXCUSES…

Alonso went on the 10-day IL on May 21 with a right hand sprain that stemmed from getting hit by a pitch on May 5 in St. Louis — at which point he was hitting .287 with five home runs and a .892 OPS. He initially tried to play through it, but since the game in which he was hit, he batted just 5-for-40 (.125) with one home run and a .505 OPS in 12 games before finally landing on the IL.

But here’s the thing Post.  It is May 31 and Pete is in the middle of his second straight and year and he has six home runs.  At some point the number count guys.

Anyway, I am sure the new followers won’t like this.  That’s OK, been doing this since 2008…I’m used to it.

First crack in the Pete Alonso Mafia’s armor

If you read today’s New York Post, there it is.  It’s just the tiniest of cracks, but there it is.  It’s just that tiny drop of water on your outdoor faucet that’s the first sign that the fixture is starting to go bad.  Nothing to worry about.  Just ignore it.  All will be fine.

The Post wrote about McCann hitting better….

Perhaps, the temporary position change has awoken the hitter within. Maybe, the Mets should tell rehabbing first baseman Pete Alonso to take his time.

And there it is.  Take your time Pete.  Pete Alonso with the team leading 6 home runs on May 30th (Three per month, pacing to around 20 his season! If he gets hot he could hit 30!)

Remember friends, always trade high and deal from strength.  Especially when you have other options.

Oh, and another thing.   #LGM.  There’s no F in that.
